The most famous of these is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/developer83.wordpress-developer.us\/culturecheesemag\/cheese-library\/Oka\" target=\"_blank\">Oka<\/a><\/strong>, from the region of the same name. This washed rind was created by the Trappist monks who settled in the region in the early 1600s.<\/p>\n<p>Some of our current favorites are <strong>Grey Owl<\/strong>, an ash-covered, soft goat cheese, and <strong>Magie de Madawaska<\/strong>, a soft, creamy delight in the style of Pont-l\u2019\u00c9v\u00eaque. Both are from the Fromagerie Le D\u00e9tour. We also like the triple cr\u00e8me Brie-style <strong>Riopelle de l\u2019Isle<\/strong> and the excellent aged <strong>Cheddar de l\u2019\u00cele-aux-Grues<\/strong>, both from the Fromagerie de l\u2019\u00cele-aux-Grues.<\/p>\n<p>From Prince Edward Island, home of&nbsp;<em>Anne of Green Gables<\/em>, comes <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/developer83.wordpress-developer.us\/culturecheesemag\/cheese-library\/Avonlea-Clothbound\" target=\"_blank\">Avonlea<\/a><\/strong>, a magnificent two-year-old unpasteurized clothbound cheddar with bright, fruity tones of pineapple and citrus.<\/p>\n<p>Our most popular cheese is a soft, creamy ch\u00e8vre, which comes from the Okanagan Valley in BC\u2019s interior. Also, our house-made cider-marinated camembert is sought after. We have been making this according to an old Normandy recipe for close to 20 years now. We use a triple cr\u00e8me from Quebec and marinate in scrumpy cider made right here on Vancouver Island at the Merridale Ciderworks.
