When made with neon nacho sauce and lukewarm frozen fries, the resulting dish\u2014and stomachache\u2014can leave something to be desired. But when made from scratch and paired with complementary toppings, cheesy fries become a new twist on a childhood favorite, elevated&nbsp;enough to serve to guests (we promise!).<\/p>\n<p>Much&nbsp;like building a house, to have a successful dish you must have a strong foundation. In this case, we&#8217;re talking about the perfect fry. While you can certainly use frozen varieties when you&#8217;re short on time (just be sure to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ehow.com\/how_7788522_way-cook-frozen-french-fries.html\" target=\"_blank\">oil &#8217;em up first<\/a>), making your own french fries from fresh potatoes can really make a huge difference. Follow <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bowlofdelicious.com\/2014\/09\/07\/how-to-make-perfect-crispy-oven-fries\/\" target=\"_blank\">these tips<\/a> for a perfect baked fry, every time.<\/p>\n<p>Now for the delicious part: the cheesy toppings. Start&nbsp;simple, and simply pour a <a href=\"http:\/\/ciaoveggie.com\/2014\/09\/fondue-cheese-fries.html\" target=\"_blank\">whole mess of five-ingredient fondue cheese<\/a> over crispy fries. For&nbsp;something a little sharper,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mylittlelarder.com\/blue-cheese-oven-baked-fries\/\" target=\"_blank\">sprinkle blue cheese<\/a> over your fries as they bake. Most of the cheese remains soft and melty, but the crumbles that come in contact with the pan will become browned and chewy.<\/p>\n<p>Ready for&nbsp;more than just cheese? Try <a href=\"http:\/\/thelazysuzan.com\/2013\/04\/01\/loaded-greek-steak-fries\/\" target=\"_blank\">loaded Greek steak fries<\/a>, topped with cucumber, tomatoes, tzatziki, and feta. Or blur the line between fries and nachos with <a href=\"http:\/\/whatsgabycooking.com\/fiesta-fries\/#.VA8_7kuKxg0\" target=\"_blank\">fiesta fries<\/a>.&nbsp;Smothered with all of your usual taco toppings and served with a margarita, it can make any weeknight a special occasion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the more advanced cheese fry eater, someone has made a behemoth dish of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dixiechikcooks.com\/french-dip-mac-n-cheese-smothered-french-fries\/\" target=\"_blank\">french dip mac &#8216;n&#8217; cheese covered french fries\u2014<em>with bacon<\/em><\/a>. Or for perhaps the greatest mash-up yet, try a <a href=\"http:\/\/foodinese.com\/2014\/08\/26\/french-fry-pizza\/\" target=\"_blank\">french fry pizza<\/a>, using fries as the &#8220;crust&#8221; and cheese as the glue to hold it all together.
