When you hear the word “cheesecake” you’re probably thinking of the typical sweet and smooth dessert made with eggs, flour, and cream cheese<\/a> — but what about a cake made out of only cheese or entirely of pizza? Savory cheesecakes<\/a> are definitely a thing, and they’re taking the world by storm.<\/p>\n

Attending a wedding soon? If it’s in the US or the UK, there’s a chance the happy couple will be cutting something cheesy, not chocolate-y. Instead of your average one-flavor wedding cake, many newlyweds today are offering their guests tiers of cheddar<\/a>, Brie<\/a>, and goat cheese<\/a> decorated with fruit, and sometimes iced with marscapone<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The idea is certainly untraditional, but not unheard of. Cheese shops across the country are offering their wedding cheese cake services — even Cypress Grove Ch\u00e8vre.<\/a> According to marketing director Janne Rasmussen<\/a>, “[these cakes] are a growing trend, because people are becoming aware of their sugar intake, they\u2019re gluten-free — or they just love it.<\/span>” (It seems like many folks are opting for cheesier weddings — just check out our web editor Amy Scheuerman’s column<\/a> about her own wedding!)<\/p>\n

Pizza Cakes<\/h3>\n

Get ready for a pizza of epic proportions. This Buzzfeed recipe<\/a> for a do-it-yourself pepperoni pizza cake involves stacking as many uncooked pizzas as your heart desires and setting them in a cake pan to bake. The recipe was inspired from Canadian chain Boston Pizza’s “Pizza Game Changer<\/a>s” campaign. In the voting round, pizza cake beat out its other competitors which included pizza tacos and pizza-flavored mints.<\/p>\n

The team at NPR<\/a> gave it a try and had this to say: “It’s not exactly (how much you like pizza) x (number of layers), but it’s pretty fun. You lose any crispiness of crust that you’d get in a conventional pizza, but the obscene amount of cheese you’re eating makes you forget about that pretty quick.<\/span>“<\/p>\n

“Obscene amount of cheese” sounds just perfect to us.<\/p>\n
