For most people a grilled cheese sandwich is a quick and cheap way to satisfy your cravings for cheesy goodness. Most of the time they are simply bread and cheese. Some people add meat or a condiment to be fancy, but comfort food staple rarely empties your bank account.<\/p>\n

That changed when New York’s Serendipity 3 released its Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich, which the Guinness Book of World Records called “the Most Expensive Sandwich in the World.” The sandwich starts with thick slices of French Pullman Champagne Bread \u2013 made with Dom Perignon Champagne and 24k edible gold flakes. Each slice is generously buttered with several thick layers of grass-fed white truffle butter. Next comes the cheese: Caciocavallo Podolico<\/a>, a rare cheese originating from Italy made from the milk of free-ranging Podolica cows. After the cheese has melted to perfection and sliced down the middle, the sides of the sandwich are gilded in 24kt gold leaf.<\/p>\n

What pairs with this decadent delight? Only the finest and rarest South African lobster soup with just a touch of white truffle oil, of course!<\/p>\n

Does it sound delicious? Delicious enough to have each bite cost roughly $13.00?<\/p>\n

The grand total for this cheesy creation is an astounding $214.00 for the entire thing. If you are willing to fork over the cash for this decadent treat, make sure to note that the restaurant needs 48 hour’s notice if you would like to order the delicacy.<\/p>\n
