For centuries, Italian families have gathered around their communal tables to celebrate a special Christmas traditon: the Feast of the Seven Fishes<\/a>. Taking a page from the Roman Catholic concept of abstaining from meat during holy days, devout Italians of yesteryear refused to let the temporary protein prohibition stop them from eating some amazing food, and so a trend evolved of cooking up course after course of delicious seafood dishes. Italian immigrants to the States brought this miracle meal along with them, and today the Feast is celebrated around the world.<\/p>\n

What, you may be asking, has this to do with cheese? Well, Sonya Cot\u00e9—one of our favorite chefs who also<\/em> happens to be featured in our Spring 2015 issue— is preparing a special Feast of the Seven Fishes menu for her award-winning Austin, Texas, restaurant Eden East<\/a> tomorrow and Saturday!<\/p>\n
