It\u2019s usually the dairy animals\u2014cows, sheep, goats\u2014that get the star treatment in our pages. But they aren\u201dt the only hairy, four-legged creatures close to cheesemakers’ hearts. Here we look at the dogs (and one rooster!) that herd livestock, greet visitors, or just entertain the staff at Redwood Hill Farm & Creamery, Bleating Heart Cheese, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company, and Bellwether Farms.<\/p>\n

REDWOOD HILL FARM & CREAMERY<\/h3>\n

Smokey, a Labrador retriever\u2013pit bull mix, passed away shortly after culture<\/strong>\u2019s photo shoot. \u201cIn his younger days, he was head of gopher patrol on the farm,\u201d farm manager Scott Bice remembers.<\/p><\/div>\n
