This weekend is a great weekend for cheese lovers across the country. If you\u2019re in the South, you can go running with the goats<\/a> thanks to Belle Ch\u00e8vre Creamery. And, if you\u2019re on the West Coast, you can watch history being made as cheese enthusiasts attempt to construct the tallest grilled cheese stack of all time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right—at Santa Ana, Calif., cheese festival Oozefest<\/a>, the goal is to create a 25-foot tower of pure grilled cheese. As Geoff Kutnick, one of the builders, told Los Angeles Magazine<\/cite>, \u201cWe need a six-foot-tall base that\u2019s wider and able to support the pole that we\u2019ll be stacking the grilled cheeses on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kutnick co-founded Foodbeast<\/a>, the website behind Oozefest. The stack will be built during Oozefest\u2019s first session, while a grilled cheese eating competition will take place during the second session (unfortunately, participants aren\u2019t required to obtain their sandwiches from the top of the stack). The event will also serve as the premiere of crazy, new dishes from over twenty vendors<\/a>, including Apple Cheese Empenadas from Shuck Oyster Bar and a Mac and Rib melt from The Grilled Cheese Truck. My one question is why are all of these amazing things happening so far away from me.<\/p>\n

Standard tickets at $50 for each session, including all-you-cat-eat\/drink cheese and beer. Definitely check it out if you can! You’ll get to drink beer, eat awesome cheesy masterpieces, and you can tell your grandkids that you witnessed the tallest grilled cheese tower being built.<\/p>\n
