But cottage cheese has been going through a makeover of sorts lately, with new companies trying to make it\u2014dare we say it?\u2014<em>sexy.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/40432204\/can-cottage-cheese-become-the-next-greek-yogurt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Fast Company<\/em> article<\/a>&nbsp;highlights several cottage cheese brands that aim to disrupt the US dairy industry. From their sleek, attractive packaging, to their enticing flavor combinations, these products fit right in alongside their trendier cousins, the beloved Greek yogurts and Icelandic skyrs.<\/p>\n<p>Your eyes aren&#8217;t playing tricks if you&#8217;ve seen cottage cheese claiming more shelf space in the dairy section. Ohio&#8217;s SmithFoods introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/artisabrand.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Artisa<\/a>&#8216;s diverse line of flavored cottage cheese\u2014widely available in the Midwest\u2014in 2015. Los Angeles-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodculture.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Good Culture<\/a> started selling their goods nationally in January 2016. Israeli company Tnuva launched <a href=\"http:\/\/muuna.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Muuna<\/a> in the US that summer.&nbsp;They all offer convenient single-serve products in sweet and savory flavors such as mango, kalamata olive, and black bean and corn salsa.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vKPir0l0cx0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Fully aware of cottage cheese&#8217;s tarnished reputation, these brands all seem to be striving for the same goal: to reverse the public&#8217;s negative perception. Artisa&#8217;s website says it&#8217;s committed to make cottage cheese &#8220;the next big comeback.&#8221; Good Culture&#8217;s motto is &#8220;Cottage Cheese, But Better.&#8221; Muuna&#8217;s? &#8220;The New Way to Cottage.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cottage cheese enjoyed its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thesalt\/2015\/07\/16\/423207704\/the-fall-of-a-dairy-darling-how-cottage-cheese-got-eclipsed-by-yogurt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">heyday<\/a> in the &#8217;50s, &#8217;60s, and &#8217;70s, when many dieters swore by it and the average American ate five pounds of it per year.
