He started playing guitar, he explains, \u201cin homage to the fromage of my metal gods.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fueled by a dual passion for curds and tunes, Hodgson began pondering ways to combine his interests\u2014and found global inspiration. In West Dorset, England, the BBC Singers ensemble recently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dorsetecho.co.uk\/news\/14560704.Wheels_of_maturing_cheese_provided_pitch_perfect_acoustics_for_concert\/?ref=mmsp\">achieved perfect concert acoustics<\/a> amongst wheels of aging cheddar. In Lower Austria, wheels of hard, aged cheese Grottenhofer Auslese mature at the Heiligenkreuz Abbey amidst a constant stream of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UiRpXsWlZK4\">Gregorian chanting<\/a>. (\u201cIn this vibratory atmosphere,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.milchstrasse.at\/de-auslese-146.html\">reads the website<\/a> of a local milk producers\u2019 association, \u201cis created a special cheese with many valuable substances that give the hungry human body a good and orderly life.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Hodgson began to wonder: Can music influence cheese maturation?<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/science-environment-10985313\">Recent findings<\/a> support the notion that bacteria can pick up external signals\u2014that they use senses, much like humans do. Could microbes in cheese, perhaps, \u201chear\u201d music? There\u2019s also the supposed connection between human consciousness and the molecular structure of water. In his famous work, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masaru-emoto.net\/english\/water-crystal.html\">Masaru Emoto<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tAvzsjcBtx8\">exposed glasses of water to music, words, and photos<\/a> before freezing them and chronicling the result using microscopic photography.
