Check out how the <a href=\"https:\/\/developer83.wordpress-developer.us\/culturecheesemag\/gear\/green-valley-organics-lactose-free-cream-cheese\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Organic Vallet Co-Op<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheFarmAtDoeRun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Farm at Doe Run<\/a> are working to protect our environment&nbsp;one cheese at a time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Solar-Powered Cheese<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.organicvalley.coop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Organic Valley<\/a>, producers of cheese, butter, and other dairy products, announced a landmark step toward becoming carbon neutral: In a collaboration with the Upper Midwest Municipal Energy Group, the nation\u2019s largest farmer-owned cooperative will install over 12 megawatts of solar arrays in <a href=\"https:\/\/developer83.wordpress-developer.us\/culturecheesemag\/?post_type=guest-author&amp;p=1780\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wisconsin<\/a>. The electricity created is expected to cover 100 percent of Organic Valley\u2019s electric energy needs by 2019. It\u2019s a win for the region as well: These solar installations are expected to increase overall solar energy use in Wisconsin by 15 percent.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: right; width: 35%; margin-right: 10px; margin-top: 25px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/developer83.wordpress-developer.us\/culturecheesemag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/St-Malachi.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-32914\" src=\"https:\/\/developer83.wordpress-developer.us\/culturecheesemag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/St-Malachi.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\"><\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Good Cheese, Clean Water<\/h2>\n<p>The award-winning <a href=\"https:\/\/developer83.wordpress-developer.us\/culturecheesemag\/article\/great-mistakes-the-farm-at-doe-run-st-malachi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Farm at Doe Run<\/a>\u2014who most recently took the top prizes at the 2018 Pennsylvania Farm Show\u2014is making an environmental statement with its newest cheese: Buy Camembert-style Mayfly, and the sustainability-focused farm will donate 10 percent of proceeds to the Stroud Water Research Center, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving fresh water.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first partnership between the farm and the Stroud: The center has guided watershed restoration work with the farm, located along Sharitz Run, a tributary of the Brandywine Creek that\u2019s currently considered impaired by Pennsylvania\u2019s environmental protection standards. Wondering about the cheese\u2019s buzzy name?
