The country&#8217;s fire season started in late July&#8211;bushfires are typical in northern Australia from April to September due to the region&#8217;s climate. This season the blaze was accelerated by individuals who deliberately started fires. Police in New South Wales, the area most affected, <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/International\/24-australians-arrested-deliberately-setting-fires-season\/story?id=68108272\">have arrested at least 24 people<\/a>, and their search for arsonists continues. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/01\/01\/australia\/australia-fires-explainer-intl-hnk-scli\/index.html\">CNN<\/a>, more than 2,000 homes have burned, farmlands have been destroyed, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-australia-bushfires-dairy\/australian-fires-hit-key-dairy-regions-adding-to-woes-from-drought-idUSKBN1Z50AG\">key dairy regions have been hit<\/a>.
