Click <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/developer83.wordpress-developer.us\/culturecheesemag\/blog\/tariffs-101-eu-cheeses-take-a-hike\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to catch up.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The highly sought-after <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/life\/food\/2020\/01\/09\/hooks-cheese-co-release-20-year-cheddar-advance-orders-being-taken-now\/2848431001\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">20-year cheddar <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from Hook\u2019s Cheese Co. is back on the shelves after a five-year hiatus. An extremely rare wheel, the cheese is selling for $209 a pound,&nbsp; the same price it sold out at in 2015. And just like last time, half the proceeds will be donated to the Dairy Innovation Hub\u2014so cheddar lovers can feel good about such an extravagant indulgence.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some good tariff news: the US-Japan Trade Agreement went into effect on the first day of the year, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dairyreporter.com\/Article\/2020\/01\/06\/US-Japan-trade-deal-opens-market-for-cheese-exports\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lowering tariffs for American products like cheese<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This will level the playing field for American farmers, giving them equal access to the Japanese market as other countries have.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The infamous <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/travel\/article\/marc-veyrat-loses-michelin-guide-lawsuit\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201ccheddar gate\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> case has been officially closed. Back in January 2019, French chef Marc Veyrat took Michelin to court after they demoted his Alpine restaurant from three to two stars, supposedly due to the fact that he had been using cheddar (gasp!) in his souffl\u00e9. Veyrat denied this claim, insisting his recipe used Reblochon and Beaufort. But last week, the court ruled that no damage was caused by the demotion, and Veyrat lost the case.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mac and cheese does more than comfort us on a cold winter night\u2014it can sustain astronauts in space or soldiers fighting war, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/inews.co.uk\/news\/science\/mac-and-cheese-food-space-exploration-nasa-mars-mission-1357976\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thanks to science<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Washington State University scientists recently discovered a way to triple the shelf life of boxed mac and cheese, making it the perfect meal for space travelers on their way to Mars or US Army troops in the field. Their missions just got tastier.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australia\u2019s tragic wildfires are impacting its people, land, animals\u2014and dairies.
