Even though 2020\u2019s travel restrictions have been keeping us from sampling global meals on international lands, we can still bring some of that magic to our kitchen tables. Our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/developer83.wordpress-developer.us\/culturecheesemag\/cheese-pairings\/liberte-egalite-fraternite\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">latest web piece <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will guide you through pairing some of France\u2019s most iconic wines and cheeses, perfect for a belated Bastille Day celebration\u2014or just a regular weeknight.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In other cheese news:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2020 World Cheese Awards, originally set to take place in Spain, have officially been rescheduled. \u201cIt saddens me deeply to make this announcement, at a time when artisan cheesemakers could do with a lift,\u201d a Guild of Fine Food representative <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dairyfoods.com\/articles\/94466-world-cheese-awards-rescheduled\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">told Dairy Foods Magazine. <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBut for obvious reasons it\u2019s just not appropriate to mobilize the cheese world on such a large scale right now.\u201d The new date is set for November 2021.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hannaford Supermarkets is committed to using cheese as a force for good. They <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressherald.com\/2020\/07\/22\/the-wrap-cookies-cheese-and-virtual-cows\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recently announced<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that they\u2019ll be purchasing $10,000 worth of Maine-made milk for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pinelandfarmsdairy.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pineland Farms Dairy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to turn into 7,000 pounds worth of cheese, all to be donated to local folks in need. The partnership will help struggling families <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> support Maine dairy farmers. An incredible initiative!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking of Maine-made cheeses: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mainecheeseguild.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Maine Cheese Guild <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has been finding creative ways to support local cheesemakers in the Pinetree State since their 2020 Maine Cheese Festival has been cancelled. Enter <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressherald.com\/2020\/07\/22\/the-wrap-cookies-cheese-and-virtual-cows\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maine Milk Mavens<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an initiative that links grocers and restaurants with local makers, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.localgoodsgathered.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Local Goods Gathered<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where consumers can buy directly from local creameries for pick-up and delivery.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some BIG cheese news: an Italian community just broke a monstrous world record with a wheel of <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/upi.com\/Odd_News\/2020\/07\/21\/Italian-communes-13195-pound-block-of-cheese-breaks-Guinness-record\/6021595353463\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pecorino Sardo that weighs 1,319.5 pounds<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, earning it the title of the largest sheep\u2019s milk cheese ever. (Yes, really.)
